New breed of Alderley villa unveiled

Award winning, Alderley Edge based property development company, Huntsmere, has revealed plans for its latest property in the village. Located on Congleton Road, Southfield occupies an impressive tree-lined plot of 3½ acres and offers a considerable 11,300 square feet of interior designed living space.

The property pays homage to the historic ‘Alderley Edge Villas’ of the 19th century and has been designed in the Arts and Crafts style, as were many of the village’s historic properties built following the opening of Alderley Edge’s new railway station in 1842 to cater for wealthy Manchester cotton traders.

Southfield is being brought to the market with a price of £5m.

Although this will be a thoroughly modern and highly evolved property, and very different to the mansions of yesteryear, many elements such as large entertaining spaces which remain important to how we live today will be recreated at Southfield, but with many a 21st century twist!

This is a property being built to stand the test of time and will combine all the very best elements of a period home with all the advantages of a new build property, including state-of-the-art energy saving and environmentally friendly systems. Huntsmere believes that Southfield represents a new breed of Alderley villa, fit for the 21st century.

Instead of stables you will find a detached, underground quadruple garage, to safely house the multi-horse powered vehicles of today’s owner and a lavish, glazed wine display will replace the wine cellars of old but Southfield, for all its grandeur and scale, will provide an elegant family home, just as Alderley’s original villas did.

Step inside the house and you will be greeted into a spacious hallway, complete with a sweeping staircase, off which all the ground floor rooms can be accessed.

The focal point for family life will no doubt be found in the enormously spacious and multi-purpose kitchen, breakfast, day room and conservatory area which, flooded with natural light, provides ample space for informal entertaining and family living.

There are four other generously-sized reception rooms, currently conceived as a formal dining room, drawing room, library and playroom which at this stage can be tailored to suit the exact requirements of the property’s eventual owner.

The first floor boasts a master suite to rival all other master suites. Occupying over one third of the already huge first floor area, the suite comprises a master bedroom, separate ‘his and hers’ dressing areas and a large en-suite bathroom.

There are four further en-suite bedrooms, each individually space planned and designed to ensure that each has its own distinctive feel. Recessed niches, bespoke coving, designer wall coverings and subtle lighting all make their contribution.

Southfield has an additional, second, floor which can be configured to suit a range of requirements from staff or guest accommodation, the ultimate playroom or a spacious home office suite.

Last but by no means least is the property’s leisure floor, accessed through its own entrance hallway complete with the glazed wine ‘cellar’. The floor comprises a 12 metre pool with Huntsmere’s now ubiquitous stretched rubber ceiling (giving a feeling of gazing up into the sky from the pool below), Jacuzzi, lounging and gym area with separate changing/shower area plus steam room.  There is also a media room featuring a fully integrated, high performance projection home cinema system.
