Buying a high value home is considerably different to buying a property of significant lesser value.  The sheer number of properties available around £500,000 for example, means that there is a huge range of styles, locations and form, allowing you to choose the one which suits the needs of you and your family.

In comparison to this, once you reach a particular price point - currently around the £2.5m region there is a drastically reduced number of available properties, meaning that you invariably end up 'making do' with a property that isn't quite right and either spend time and money changing, or put up with.

The reality is that you are more likely to find a property best suited to you in the lower price ranges, and not, as you would naturally expect at the higher end of the market.
